Health & Safety
To be happy, everyone wants
- to be healthy
- to have a safe home, school & work environment
- to have access to the kind of healthcare they need - whether it's women's reproductive healthcare [link], improved access to mental healthcare, or substance abuse counseling.
Age-friendly laws and programs can help our seniors stay in their homes longer while also providing jobs for caregivers, nurses and professional services.
Building more workforce housing [link] in NH will ensure that recent grads and young families don't need to leave NH to find both a good job and housing they can afford.
New Hampshire must take action to curb increasing gun violence. We must not ignore the growing number of NH firearm suicides (120+ per year!) and the shocking increase in shootings of and by children, while we continue to support responsible gun ownership for hunters, home protection and sport shooting. Accompanying every gun purchase with a background check and a cooling-off period are sensible steps.
The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored our need for improving our public health planning and infrastructure. New Hampshire must become more pro-active about protecting its citizens' health and safety, supporting regional hospitals and healthcare providers, discouraging violence of all kinds, while also remaining a safe and friendly environment for businesses that serve local folks and visitors to our state.
