Supporting Public Education
The best way to ensure our communities' future happiness and prosperity is through free public K-12 education.
Affordable education for learning trades, for higher education and for continuing education should be available to all our townspeople.
In 2019 Ken Wells authored HB1185, which described a state-wide, industry-sponsored apprenticeship program, from high school through community college, at no cost or debt for students and their families. Successful completion of this apprenticeship program virtually guarantees a good highly-trained career in the sponsoring manufacturing industry.
As President* of NH Forward [link], a new non-profit advancing this innovative apprenticeship vision, Ken Wells has cultivated enthusiastic support from both sides of the aisle, as well as from local industries. The very popular pilot program in Advanced Manufacturing at Franklin High School has been offering 4 technical courses for college credit at the high school since January 2020. Students and their families bear no extra expense to participate. In addition, the program is available to all high school students in neighboring towns through open enrollment.
